Community Leaders Lunch @ Lark in the Park 2010

Every year Lark in the Park invites leaders from the local and wider community to a special buffet lunch. Our aim is to share with those leaders the vision and reason why we are doing Lark in the Park. It is a great opportunity for Community Leaders to network and to meet local people as well as the Event Organisers.

The dates for the lunches are 29th July and 5th August both at 12noon.
RSVP as stated on the invitation please.

This year at Lark in the Park

We cant believe how
quick the time is
running and that Lark in the Park 2009
is over.
We had such an amazing time at Sidcup
Place where the event took place.

Over the 16 days we had approximately 12000 visitors, which is a record!
People have enjoyed themselves in the different clubs in the afternoon as well as in the evenings. We had a lot of things going such as Dads & Kids Night, a Couple's Candelit Dinner, a Africa Night, a Lads Night, Quiz Nights as well as the famous Has Sidcup Got talent. Yes it has!!!

On both Thursday we had a special lunch for the leaders of the community. We wanted to show that Community works and that the local church cares about the community. Many Community Leaders came and were much impressed and amazed by the fact that over 340 volunteers are involved in Lark in the Park, that people give up their holiday to be there and that nearly everything is for free.

We believe that Lark in the Park is a great gift from the local churches to the community.

Thank you to everyone who took part at Lark in the Park 2009, visitors, volunteers, entertainers, suppliers, traders, everyone....THANK YOU.

Civic Recognition Award

Lark in the Park has received a Civic award for 'Outstanding Achievement.'

In October 2008 Lark in the Park was nominated by Chief Inspector Steve Murrant to receive the Civic Recognition Award. There were three different schemes.

  • Civic Recognition of Young people

  • Civic Recognition of Voluntary Service by Adults

  • Civic Recognition of Outstanding Achievement

Lark in the Park was nominated for the Civic Recognition of Outstanding Achievement. The object of the award is to recognise outstanding achievement during the current year with a achievement that has brought credit to the Borough of Bexley.

The Civic Awards are the most prestigious awards given buy the Council and it is amazing that Lark in the Park has made such a difference to the community within the Borough of Bexley. All the previous Mayor's of the London Borough of Bexley got together to vote between everyone who has been nominated and they decided that Lark in the Park had earned this award.

So a huge thank you to EVERYONE who helped at Lark in the Park. You made Lark in the Park become what it is today, a gift to the community.

Phil Leighton, Mel Newsum, Peter Austin, Charlie Weston, John Arundel, Tabitha Smith, Sheila McGee, Paul Weston and Doreen Schiller had the priviledge to be part of receiving the award on the 25th February at the Civic Offices in Bexleyheath.
